Beobachtungen zur Biologie der Kiefernschütte
Germination tests of Lophodermium spores led to the conclusion that the spores are flung off all the year round, but from the end of April to the end of July they fail to germinate and frequently show a typical form of disturbance. According to the favourable climatic infection conditions, often occurring in March and April it is suggested to investigate the possibilities of a springtime Lophodermium-attack. There are differences in the germination time and vigour between spores, flung off by the same fruiting-bodies in the course of 8-10 days. The spores leaving the apothecia between 36 and 48 hours after exposal are most vigorous. Field observations and first results of inoculation experiments imply that the incubation period of Lophodermium occasionally does not last longer than 4-6 weeks.
