With producing biogene raw materials agriculture can contribute to a c ertain degree to reduce CO2-emissions. Together with utilization of such renewable energy stocks, the emissions of sulphur containing compounds can be nearly totally reduced. Whether thereby also other environment polluting emissions can be diminished, must be proved in further investigations. Possibilities for diminishing the pollution of soil, surface water and groundwater are currently investigated in a series of research projects. These activities are dealing with techniques to apply liquid manure according to the actual nutrient demand of the plant as well as to eliminate extensively certain compounds from the manure.
