Über die Intensität der Symptomausbildung bei Kartoffelsorten nach Infektion mit Kartoffelvirus-Y-lsolaten
23 Kartoffelsorten wurden mit 7 unterscheidbaren Kartoffelvirus-Y(PVY)-Isolaten infiziert und die Symptome nach der Primärinfektion sowie bei 2 Nachbauten beurteilt. Bei 7 Kartoffelsorten blieben Infektionen innerhalb der 3 Anbauten symptomlos, allerdings nur bei einzelnen Sorten-Virus-Kombinationen (Tabelle 1). Kartoffelsorten reagierten auf Infektionen mit den PVY-Isolaten uneinheitlich. Einige Sorten bildeten jedoch vorwiegend leichte, andere vorwiegend mittlere bis schwere Symptome aus (Tabelle 2). Der Anteil der einzelnen Symptombonituren war bei den Virusisolaten unterschiedlich. Einzelne PVY-Isolate verursachten bevorzugt symptomlose Infektionen bzw. leichte Symptome, andere bevorzugt mittlere bis schwere Symptome (Abb. 1). Die beiden Stammgruppen PVY0 und PVYN zeigten hier keine Unterschiede. Die Viruskonzentration - beurteilt anhand der im ELISA erhaltenen Extinktionswerte - war für die Stärke des Symptombildes nicht entscheidend (Tabelle 3). Nach Primärinfektion waren Symptome im Vergleich zu denen bei den Nachbauten häufiger schwächer als stärker, oft waren sie identisch.
Twenty-three potato cultivars were infected with 7 distinguishable isolates of potato virus Y (PVY). Symptoms were indexed after the primary infection and in two successive progenies. Infections remained symptomless in 7 combinations of cultivar and virus isolate (Tab. 1). Different cultivars differed in their reactions to virus infectioos. Some cultivars showed mostly mild symptoms, whereas others usually showed medium to severe symptoms (Tab. 2). The percentage of cultivars showing either strong, mild or no symptoms was also different with different virus isolates. Some isolates caused mainly symptomless infections or only mild symptoms, others however produced predominantly medium to severe symptoms (Fig. 1). However, the most decisive factor for symptom expression was the combination of cultivars and virus isolates. No differences between the intensity of symptoms were observed between isolates belonging either to the PVY0 or the PVYN strain groups. No correlation was found between the virus concentration in the plant sap, estimated by means of the extinction values in ELISA, and the intensity of symptoms (Tab. 3). After primary infections the symptoms were sometimes milder than in progenies, mostly, however, they were identical.
