Review and summary of national presentations on epidemiology, surveillance and control of rabies in Europe

The author reviews the data reported by 21 European countries during the meeting on rabies. Very few countries are rabies-free. The disease in foxes remains a serious problem throughout much of the continent. Oral vaccination trials have produced encouraging results for control of rabies in foxes.
