Epidemiologische Untersuchungen zu Echinococcus multilocularis (LEUCKART; 1863) im Land Brandenburg: 1. Mitteilung: Parasitologische Untersuchungen wildlebender Carnivoren zur Feststellung der Erregerprävalenz

620 wildlife carnivores from the county of Brandenburg, Germany were examined for the presence of Echinococcus multilocularis infection. More intensive examinations were conducted in the 5 northwestern districts. E. multilocularis was detected in red foxes, but not in cats, martens and one racoon. The estimated prevalence of infection was 6.2-11.5%. The results indicate that Brandenburg is currently the most northerly region of Germany which is endemically infected
