Pilotstudie zur Untersuchung einheimischer Fledermäuse auf das Vorkommen von Paramyxoviren
Pilot study to evaluate the presence of Paramyxoviruses in native batsBats and flying foxes may transmit a number of infectious agents that obviously do not induce disease in these animals. Flying foxes in Southeast Asia and in Western Africa have been identified to carry Nipah and Hendra virus. These viruses of the family Paramyxoviridae may cause fatal illness in humans. No reports are available on the presence of other representatives of the family of Paramyxoviridae with any or no pathogenic potential European bats.
