Forschungsansätze zur Ermittlung regionaler Präferenzen für Landschaftsfunktionen : Conjoint-Analyse und Contingent-Valuation-Methode

The payment of subsidies for environmental landscape functions is gaining significance to agricultural research. Basis for such payments is the valuation of environmental landscape functions which normally do not have a market price. Appropriate methods concerning the valuation of such public goods are the contingent valuation method (CVM) and more recently the conjoint analysis (CA). Both methods are used to obtain measures of preference for different environmental landscape functions. This short paper presents an overview of existing applications, advantages, and disadvantages of both methods. It can be concluded that concerning the advantages/disadvantages both methods should be integrated into a two-stage approach. At the first stage the CA should be applied to get the utility relationship between landscape functions. In the second step the CVM should be used to determine the willingness to pay for different landscape functions. The CVM results may be used to classify both, the willingness to pay (prices) and the different levels of relative utility.
