Spraying technologies are developed constantly towards more efficiency, operator safety and savings
of plant protection products. Thanks to methods of digitalization, new sensing techniques and
further technical development of new concepts like direct injection, plant identification, spot
spraying, band application with field crop sprayers, field robots etc. could be realized in meantime or
are in the pipeline for future realization. These new developments will also have a future impact on
control of sprayers in use. There is a necessity to adopt regulations, measurement instrumentation,
training of control staff etc. to these new developments. Aim of the paper is to highlight future
challenges for the inspection of sprayers in use.
