Silage made of whole plants of vetch is a protein rich feed for growing and fattening pigs. Providing protein rich roughage has the potential to reduce the input of concentrate but may as well affect carcass and meat quality. 120 fattening pigs were fed either a silage made of whole plant silage of two different vetch species or straw as roughage. The dressing percentage was not affected by feeding group while lean meat content tended to be higher in vetch silage fed pigs.
