Kälbergesundheit in der kuhgebundenen Aufzucht - erste Ergebnisse einer Praxisstudie

The way of rearing calves has a direct effect on their health and the human-animal relation. The aim of this study is to collect and analyze data concerning calves raised in cow-calf-contact systems in order to gain an overview of the current situation of animal welfare. So far, 243 calves have been assessed for, among other things, their general health and for dirt on the torso and the anal region. When compared to data from artificial rearing systems, our initial results indicate better general calf health.
