Dataset about dermal exposure measurements on a life like cow dummy with the collector Tyvek and the fluorescent dye pyranine
Ammonia emissions from cattle farming can be reduced by using urease inhibitors (UI). A risk assessment is required for the application of UI in practice, which involves exposure data. Fluorometry is the methodology used to measure exposures. The data provide an overview of the study of dermal exposure measurements on a life like cow dummy using the collector Tyvek and the fluorescent dye pyranine. Depending on the worst-case scenario, the cow was covered in regions where exposure is expected. Three different worst-case scenarios (over the cow, passing the cow, and 0 m frontal) were considered, together with two different application techniques (drag hose system and robot dummy). Exposure measurements were taken in a cattle barn under real-life conditions twice in 2022 (in May and August). In May, each scenario was carried out seven times, and five times in August.
