Facing the global increase of obesity and comorbidities in childhood and adolescence, primary preventive measures become increasingly important. The prospective cohort PEACHES (Programming of Enhanced Adiposity Risk in CHildhood - Early Screening) of mothers with pre-conception obesity and their children enables studying early risk factors and risk markers of childhood overweight and associated metabolic diseases to develop targeted prevention strategies.
