§ 64 LFGB Kick-off Meeting zu „Anwendungspotenzial moderner Analysetechniken im Bereich Lebensmittel- und Futtermittelsicherheit und deren Authentizität“

The area of food and feed analysis has been benefiting from related disciplines by using modern analytical techniques. However, corresponding standardization concepts are not yet available for the routine application of these methods. In order to meet the requirements of the official authorities responsible for food monitoring, it is requested to validate and to transfer these methods to the “Official Collection of Methods of Analysis and Sampling (ASU)”. Following an invitation from the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (Bundesamt für Verbraucherschutz und Lebensmittelsicherheit, BVL) on November 14, 2016, experts from relevant fields gathered to discuss application of new analytical methods and their experiences. Within the framework of a § 64 kick-off meeting, possible “new topics” with regard to the application of these methods were discussed. Participants at the event supported the establishment of new specialized § 64 working groups focusing on “modern molecular biology methods” and “mass spectrometric methods”. The aim of the newly founded working groups is to create general guidelines for validation and to examine or to develop existing approaches on its applicability for these methods. Possible thematic or application-specific interfaces should be recognized and included in the preparation of appropriate guidelines.
