A derived method for the quick assessment of VOC emissions from wood-based panels

Wood and wood-based panels are sources of VOC in the indoor environment and therefore affect inhdoor air quality. The standardised methods for the determination of emissions from construction products ofen require a testing duration o 28 days, which is not very convenient for the user. Therefore, a rapid test method is developed, to enable an early derivation of emission rates. Test in the Micro Chamber and standardised emission chamber resulted in high coefficients of determination for terpenes that indicate a derivation of emissions rated by the rapid test method. However, there was no correlation found for aldehydes.
