Phenotypic analysis of AvrRpt2EA transgenic apple lines
AvrRpt2EA is a type III effector protein of the pathogen Erwinia amylovora causing the bacterial disease fire blight on apple, pear and other species of the Rosaceae plant family. The effect of AvrRpt2EA on a susceptible apple cultivar Pinova (Pin) was studied analyzing transgenic plants carrying a heat shock (HS)-inducible AvrRpt2EA-expression construct as described in more detail in the related publication (Schröpfer et al., 2017). The growth of new shoots produced in transgenic AvrRpt2EA-lines (M904, M905, M906) and Pin was evaluated (Dataset 1). The relative length of shoot necrosis (Dataset 2) and the gene expression of AvrRpt2EA, PATHOGENESIS-RELATED 1 (PR-1), VEGETATIVE STORAGE PROTEIN 2 (VSP2), PHENYLALANINE AMMONIA-LYASE (PAL), ISOCHORISMATE SYNTHASE 1 and 2 (ICS1/2) (Dataset 3) was determined before and after HS-treatments.
