Forstgenetik und Naturschutz. 5. Tagung der Sektion Forstgenetik/Forstpflanzenzüchtung am 15./16. Juni 2016 in Chorin - Tagungsband

In 2009 the “Section Forest Genetics/Forest Tree Breeding” was established within the “German Union of the Forest Research Stations” (DVFFA) that was founded in 1951. The section was formed by consolidating of the “Working Group of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding” from 1950 and the “Forum Genetics-Forests-Forest management” existing since 1980. It is an open platform where knowledge exchange becomes mutually beneficial for both scientists and other interested audiences. Our main topics cover forest tree breeding, molecular and quantitative genetics, including population genetics and provenance research, the conservation of forest genetic resources as well as seed science. The 5th meeting of the “Section Forest Genetics/Forest Tree Breeding” took place in Chorin/Brandenburg from June 15–16, 2016. The meeting started with an excursion, where we went to the research location Waldsieversdorf on the occasion of its 70th anniversary visiting the Thünen Institute of Forest Genetics and the Department of Forest Reproductive Material of the State Forest Enterprise Brandenburg. The presentations on the second day focused on the topic “Forest Genetics and Nature Conservancy”. Selected presentations are published in these proceedings to give the interested community access to results of the meeting.
